Tournament Format
In this scramble format, each member of a four-player team tees off, the best drive is selected, and each of the four team members plays from that spot. This process continues until the first putt is made and the score is recorded. There is only one collective score kept per team.
18-hole four-person scramble tournament
RULES OF PLAY
- All four team members tee off on each hole.
- To prevent slow play, the maximum score per hole should not exceed a double-bogey. Teams are expected to pick up and move to next hole.
- Team members decide which tee shot is best and mark the spot with a tee or ball marker.
- Each team member hits his or her next shot from within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot.
- If less than four players on a team, players rotate extra shot.
- This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts.
- Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole).
- The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score.
- If the ball you choose to play is in a hazard (sand, water, etc.), the rough, or out of bounds, you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard or rough even if relief is within one club length.
- Each player must count at least 2 tee shots. MARK THESE ON YOUR SCORECARDS.
- Teams must mark one score only on the scorecard. In addition, mark which team member’s tee shot was used on each hole.
- Men tee off from the white tees and women from the red tees.
- All rulings, including ties, are made by the Event Referee and are final.
MULLIGANS
- Mulligans can be used for any golf shot during hole play.
- Mulligans CANNOT count toward contest hole prizes (longest drive, etc.).
- Mulligans are taken after all players have taken their shots, and must replace that player’s original shot.
- Only one mulligan per lie per player.
